Omen for Yule

Okay, well, it already looks like that blessing is needed. Within 48 hours, two of my grovies had car trouble, mostly due to the weather.

The blessing was Wunjo (Joy), Ansuz (Mouth/Spirit), Berkano (Birch/Earth), and a fourth one, Laguz (Water/Healing). The meaning I gleaned was that the joy and spirit of the season was our blessing, with rest and healing offered. The gods reminded us to rest and relax and enjoy these good things, rather than running around needlessly.

That said, our world is not designed for resting. Businesses are expecting their employees to work until they literally drop. Family and friends want to be a part of their families’ lives, and therefore need to travel regardless of the weather. In some ways, the blessing is enforced by transportation failing and being wrecked, but I would hope that a blessing would not jeopardize a person’s way to make a living.

Then again, if you’re working yourself to death anyway, perhaps a blessing such as this forces you to stop for a moment. I hope that’s the case and that my fellows will be able to get back on their feet.
